This 3D Animation demonstrates a new procedure with which researchers make light waves visible with the aid of an attosecond laser. Using hyper fast x-ray pulses, it has become possible for the first time to make the light field directly visible and to carry out the fastest measurement to date. Through laser experiments with attosecond pulses, it will even be possible to trace processes in the electron shells of atoms.
