Until now, dead younger specimens that have been washed ashore have offered the only evidence of the existence of the legendary giant squid. From their size, scientists assume that giant squid more than twenty metres long may live in the ocean depths. However, no one has seen a live, fully grown specimen to date. The fictional depiction of a giant squid in this animation is based on the scientific data currently available on their anatomy.
